I'd found it strange at first, too, but I reasoned it away - clearly this Muggle business is too much for them to try to understand, and since magic has clearly taken care of most of their problems for as long as they have, trying to understanding it all isn't even necessary for them, right? (How they amuse themselves without television, though - that I will never, ever understand.)
