my boy.

I just recently realised how long it's been since I sat down and wrote about something at length, which is shameful, because I'm going back to school in almost exactly a month, and also because I think I'd like to write more professionally, too, eventually. So!:

harry potter 7B / harry potter feelings in general )

And I am a sap, because I think of me in 1998, having loved lots of things, but never having loved things, never wanting to be somewhere else, and finding this and this world and these people, and growing up with them, and the experience of that was wonderful. This fandom was gross but some of these people are so much my people, because this 'verse was my 'verse, and I'm glad to have known it.

That is my excuse for how much of my heart felt like it'd been chipped away every time I watched a brick fall off the castle.

  1. Exams are overrrr! They ended over a day ago and I can’t even tell you what I’ve done since then, because I have done nothing. I had so much to watch and now I realise I’ve had too much to watch - I can’t choose where to start, and I’m also getting a little anxious thinking about how much I may end up being disappointed. Boo, self! Boo! I’ll probably end up reading instead.

  2. Today I checked out my Google Docs space for the first time in two months and hey, I have unfinished fic I’m semi-proud of! I guess that means I’ll be writing more soon.

  3. I’ve finally watched Deathly Hallows and I loved it, hooray. I’ve never had a problem with the movies the way a lot of people do, even when I recognise that the problems being brought up are legitimate and reasonable, so it wasn’t surprising that I enjoyed HP7, but you know.

I could talk a lot about it, probably, but I’m sleepy and lazy and remember too little, so here are three things about the parts people seem to be talking less about?:HP7 )

Finally, if you don’t start choking up when watching this video, you may not be a HP fan, or you may not have a heart.

  4. I may watch Tangled next week. I didn’t find any of the music on the OST that interesting, and the script feels a little bit unimpressive, but Zach Levi is wonderfully expressive and the way some of the shots in the trailer have been shot is just gorgeous. Also: Disney movie! (I am approaching the movie with caution regarding the way Rapunzel is written for/used in the story, but I have seen no complaints for it so far.)

  5. I know a lot of people have their reservations (and with good reason - she does seem to young) about Carey Mulligan being cast for Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, but I'm kind of excited. That photo that's going around of her from her audition alone has her giving just the right amount of completely crazy, and I can't wait to see her show off her range. And anyway, I feel like if anything, people should be worrying about Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway. (No. No.)

  6. I don’t know if I’ve informed all of you of this, but Phil Dunphy is wonderful and one of my favourite characters on TV right now, and if he were younger (and real) I would probably marry him. I know I’ve talked about how much I love what Ty Burrell did with the potentially two-dimensional character, but I really adore everything about him at this point.

  7. HEY GUYS YOU KNOW HOW PARKS AND RECREATION IS BACK IN JANUARY? I AM DANCING IN MY SEAT JUST THINKING ABOUT IT, LALALALALA. I’ve also ordered the DVDs, only I don’t know when I’ll be getting them. I want them so much.
I almost definitely had more to say. I seem to have forgotten.

HIATUS

My A'levels start tomorrow and they are big and frightening. It's likely that I'll drop by and read entries here and there (Fringe reaction posts!!1!*), but I won't do a lot of commenting, and definitely no entries.

Ugh. At some point last week I just wanted to write all my papers at once so I wouldn't have to wait anymore. And Deathly Hallows** is released somewhere in the middle too and I have movies I want to see and I just - ugh, fast forward, please, everything.

* People are being disappointed with last week's Fringe because it wasn't as good as the first four episodes, but please, if every episode this season was as good as the first four episodes, I would never want to watch any show again without talking about how terribly they write arcs, how horribly they write character development, how clunkily they write action and intensity, how dreadfully they write consistent progress. Yes, the case was too-obivously connected to Olivia's story, but I enjoyed this episode so much anyway (maybe it's because I haven't watched any other TV show this week?). Therefore! three things I loved about Amber 31422 below the cut -  ) Lalala, love this show.

** I've been listening to the score a lot, and listening to Ron Leaves (Desplat is incredibly unimaginative with the track titles on his scores - I know the progression and the importance of pretty much every scene thanks to the titles and the length and the mood of the piece, for goodness' sake) I got all wibbley because I love all three of them together and that scene will probably (almost definitely) make me sniffle. There were three scenes that got to me in the last book, and I think two of them happen in the first movie. Damn.

Also, anyone else worried that the second movie will end up action-heavy, simply because of the way the book progresses? I think there's enough material there to make it work - I don't think the battle at the end will end up taking up 60% of the second movie, or anything - but it's not very balanced, is it? And HP movies love the big bangs.

*** Shall we talk about how even my goodbye posts are REALLY LONG? I'm sorry, I just have so much to say. This entry is largely irrelevant, though, really. In summary: going away for a little less than three weeks because of scary-major exams, but I don't know how to stop talking about Fringe.

I'm sorry to post so soon, but this came up and I could not not. Do you see?

The King's Speech trailer

Oh god, this looks fantastic. I don't even have the words to describe it (Colin Firth! Geoffrey Rush! friendships!! Helena Bonham Carter!), but I'm completely convinced it's going to be wonderful, and that it fully deserves the festival love it's gotten.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows trailer

Like I told [livejournal.com profile] mollivanders, the reaction 'shaking, crying' has never been a more accurate description of my reaction to anything before. anything. I started shaking maybe ten seconds in, and started wailing at the few seconds of the fight THE FIGHT. ('Shipping wars are crazy in this fandom, but other than how fully I love my Lily/James and anything set in the MWPP era, my biggest 'ship, the one thing I want to see beyond anything, is the HP OT3.) I can't really talk about this trailer, either, except - Hermione looks badass, and THE FIGHT THE FIGHT.

I don't know how I'm going to survive this movie. And if I don't, HOW WILL I WATCH PART TWO NEXT YEAR?! PROBLEMS, PROBLEMS.
